Self Defence

Black Tiger Karate & Self Defence

As the name of our school indicates we offer children and adults training in Martial Arts, our main style is Shotokan Karate. We also offer Self Defence classes as a separate study to those who specifically wish to train in self defence techniques.

Martial Arts and Karate in particular will teach you self defence techniques but it is much deeper than that, as it follows a set curriculum, a  path from basic to advanced. “The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.” Funakoshi Gichin. This quote from the founder of Shotokan Karate states that in the study of karate one becomes a better person. You strive for perfection and in so doing a life long study ensues. For many, karate becomes a path to a better way of life.

There is a big difference between taking a martial arts course and taking a self defence course. Martial Arts is something that takes a lifetime to learn properly. And a few years to use effectively against a violent attack. Self defence training will provide you with a good level of confidence to do the right thing when confronted with danger or violence.
